The air quality index for your city will soon be displayed on Google Discover
On both iOS and Android devices, Google is including an air quality (AQI) card in the Discover menu. A color-coded dot that denotes the state of the air quality will be displayed on the card along with the AQI level.
It's that time of year when leaving your house makes it extremely difficult for you to breathe. It is getting harder to breathe in the Delhi NCR region due to rising air pollution. Before leaving the house, it's crucial to check the air quality so you can adjust the plans for your outside activities. Google is allegedly aiming to assist users in tracking air quality, which would be a useful service for folks who live in polluted areas.
The AQI card is being broadly rolled out on the platform on both the iOS and Android operating systems, according to a report by 9to5Google. This new tab will soon be available to users in the Google app, to the left of the home screen. On tablets like the Pixel Fold, this feature isn't currently available, though.
However, Google will add a tiny card to the Discover stream on mobile devices that will display local air quality changes in real time. The Customize menu has also been updated by the corporation, and Material You switches have been replaced with checkboxes.
Sports, weather, and finance are the three mini-cards that Google now offers in the Discover tab. The Weather card keeps you informed of the most recent weather conditions, the Sports card provides real-time updates for the teams you follow, and the Finance card monitors stock prices and market trends in the industries you are interested in.
Air Quality (AQI) will be a fourth mini-card that Google adds to the Discover tab. Users may quickly and conveniently check the local air quality using the tiny tab. Users only need to tap on the AQI tiny card to access the service. This starts a search for information on air quality, which is then shown on the Discover tab.
Users can utilize this helpful new feature to keep up with local air quality information. For those who are sensitive to air pollution or have breathing difficulties, it is also a practical way to check the air quality before venturing outside.
The AQI micro card will, however, be more comprehensive on iOS than it would be on Android, according to the article. It will provide all the data that the AQI small card in the future will display, including the AQI level, location, and air quality situation. Indicators for the air quality condition will also be present, and it is anticipated that they will change color to reflect the air quality situation.
But as of right moment, just a few beta testers are able to use the feature. According to reports, the Google app beta for iOS and Android (version 14.32) has a blank card that, when tapped, conducts a "air quality" search.
This is already depicted in the App Store listing, though, which reads, "You will receive the numerical AQI, along with a color-coded dot that corresponds to the air quality condition, as well as information about the location and the time of the reading," according to the source.
